Top Eyelid Tape Review 2012

5 Star Rating Eyelid Tape

We at Eyelidtape.net have brainstormed among the many people who included eyelid tape into their daily lives by using them 24/7 round the clock and came up with the TOP eyelid tape to bring about the new year 2012!

Introducing the D.U.P Wonder Eyelid Tape!

Here we explain why we chose this as this year’s leading eyelid tape.

  • We’ve analysed other reviews stating that this eyelid tape is subtle, but we have found that it is better than subtle because with practice the size of your crease can be adjusted and the direction of your eyelid can be changed depending on your preference.
  • This eyelid tape is DOUBLE SIDED, LONG-LASTING, and INCLUDES the correct accessories for application purposes. This is a buy 1, cover all situations eyelid tape.
  • This eyelid tape provides a white ‘Y’ shaped tool which is used to create, apply and set the eyelid tape into place and the shape of the tape is suitable for all eyelids as the size is adjustable (cut to adjust)
  • It is also THIN at the ends which helps to conceal the eyelid to create a much natural look.

Here are some specific TIPS on using D.U.P Wonder Eyelid Tape.

  •  When using the eyelid tape, make sure your skin is dry and clean and free of oil to ensure that the eyelid tape can hold onto your skin which helps it last longer throughout the day.
  • Do not apply it too high above the eye as it will appear unnatural when trying to put the eyelid tape in place.
  • The tape should be applied starting from the inner part of your eyelid which is closest towards your nose and pressed outwards towards your ears.
  • The contour of the eyelid should be lower from the inner part of your eyelid and slightly higher at the outward position.
  • Once the eyelid tape is placed, the skin of your eyelid have to be pulled upwards so that the skin will stick onto the eyelid tape, thus creating a crease which is known as the double eyelid which is our main objective of achieving.
This whole process sounds long and tedious but it is really not once you get the hang of it. Just remember, practise makes perfect!
Make up can be put on to further conceal the tape if you have insecurities that it will show, but i will guarantee you that it is very natural when put on properly and make up would be a thing of the past.
D.U.P Wonder Eyelid Tape is a good investment and I would recommend this to anyone out there looking to create or enhance their eyelids.
For Your Information: Be wary not to to apply and reapply the tape for it may leave red swollen marks on your eyelids. The eyelid tape is STRONG (but not to the point where it feels like waxing) so be wary to not take it off and on too many times a day. A new tape usually lasts around 12hours for normal skin and around 8-9hours for oily skin (I have oily skin). Putting on daily might lead to a temporary double eyelid even without putting the eyelid tape on which lasts for a few days before it droops again. Good luck and have fun!

What are Eyelid Spasms (Eye Twitch)

Definition

There are three common types of eyelid spasms which are eyelid twitch, blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm.

  1. Eyelid Twitch : It is still unknown as to the cause of eyelid twitching. A small movement or spasms as it is called of the eyelid is common and is of no harm.
  2. Essential Blepharospasm: This is a condition which involves both of the eyes, eyelids and the eyebrows to close and shut involuntarily. In the advance stage of blepharospasm, the facial muscles and sometimes the neck might also be effected. During the occurence of spasms, visual impairment may happen as a result of the eyelid closure. It is rare to have these spasms. Abnormal nerve impulses producing muscles spasms are often the cause of Blepharospasm.
  3. Hemifacial Spasm: This is a condition which involves the eyelid and the facial muscles but only on one side of the face. Hemifacial spasm is usually caused by a blocked nerve due to artery pressure on the facial muscles causing the face to twitch.
Symptoms
  • Spasm or twitching around the eye socket
  • Facial spasms

These are not all the symptoms and does not necessarily mean that you have eyelid spasms. If one or more of these symptoms do occur, contact your eye doctor for a complete examination.

Treatment

  1. Eyelid Twitch

Most of the time minor eyelid twitch does not require treatment as it goes away after awhile. Doing relaxation techniques will help to reduce the frequency and stop the twitching.

  2. Blepharospasm

Blepharosasm can be treated with numerous ways such as injection of botulinum, surgery and taking medications. Medications are not as effective as surgery in managing blepharospasm. Botulinum injections these days are most commonly sought after as it is an instant treatment to blepharospasm. Small quantity of botulinum is injected around the eyes to relax the spasm. The effect lasts for several months and will slowly wear off and needs to be injected again. It is also a treatment considered safe with few side effects. If side-effects do occur they usually include drooping eyelids, double vision or dryness of the eyes but they will wear off as the injection subside. Surgery might be suggested by your doctor to remove either the nerve causing the twitch or the muscles itself. The result is permanent if surgery is done but is also costly.

     3.Hemifacial Spasm

Eyelid spasms in patients with hemifacial spasm may be relieved by botulinum injections. Neurosurgical procedure is needed for hemifacial spasm to relieve the pressure of the artery on the nerve. Even though the success rate is very high, it is still a major operation and complications are still possible.

What is Eyelid Surgery?

Most cosmetic doctors recognize that the eye is usually the first area to reveal wrinkles. Between the age of 30 and 40, the higher eye lid may begin developing sagging epidermis, which in severe cases, may even intervene with a individual’s line of sight; in the lower eye lid, the excess fats also begin building up that results to a “puffy” and “tired” appearance.

To address the sagging epidermis in the higher eye lids and “sagginess” around the eyes, makeup cosmetic doctors use blepharoplasty or what is more commonly called as eye lid surgery procedures.

With the improvement in US surgical treatment, most doctors today use a new strategy in eye lid surgery procedures that includes cuts created by laser treatment. While there are many kinds of laser treatment that are used in this process, most cosmetic doctors prefer the CO2 as it can cut tissues and cauterize circulation at the same times, resulting to little hemorrhaging. And because the beam of light can create tiny, precise cuts, there is no visible damage after the process.

Most cosmetic doctors in LA surgical treatment recognize that laser light eye lid surgery procedures is significantly more secure and easier to be conducted compared to the traditional approach which includes the use of surgical knife or devices when making cuts. In addition, this new strategy is a cheaper option of medical procedure as it is conducted under local anesthesia (which is cheaper than the general anesthesia) and does not include compulsory stay at a hospital.

Despite the safety of laser surgery, people should still remember that any surgical treatment includes a number of problems particularly to those who have serious problems such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension levels, late healing, renal disorder, etc. For these reasons, it has become a standard in US surgical treatment to require people to go through physical exams that will determine their candidacy for any makeup surgery process.

It is very important for people to only consult with cosmetic doctors who have board qualifications and expertise in laser eye lid surgery procedures. In this way, they can avoid or at lessen the chance of serious problems such as excessive damage caused by epidermis becoming deeper or lighter, damage to the cornea, or cheaper lid turning outward. (While certain kinds of beam of light do not include these kinds of problems, they do not provide reasonable result as opposed to the CO2.)

If necessary, botox treatment or facial additives are conducted following an eye lid medical procedures to remove the “crow’s feet” and wrinkles between the eye brows.

Eyelid Tape can be used before one plans to proceed with eyelid surgery just to see how one will look after getting a double eyelid.

What is a Droopy Eyelid and how to Cure them

About Ptosis (Droopy Eyelid) and How Eyelid Tape
Can Help

Eyelid ptosis represents the sagging of one or both eye lids and is due to weakness of muscle cells accountable for supporting the eye lid, harm to the nerve fibres which control those muscle cells, or laxity of the epidermis of the higher eye lids. The eye lid droop may be hardly recognizable, or in serious situations, the lid can come down over the entire eye. Drooping eye lid can happen in individuals of all ages and can be due to ageing, genetic problem (present before birth) or caused by an injury or illness. Drooping eye lid happens most often as one ages.

Ptosis Indicators and Signs
Causes of eye lid ptosis are different and can extensively differ. However, the most apparent indication of ptosis is the sagging eye lid. Based on how seriously the lid droops, individuals with ptosis may have problems seeing or opening the eye completely. Individuals have been known to pull their eyelids back to try to see under the lid, or increase their eye brows regularly to try to increase the eye lids. The degree of droopiness deviates from one person to the next. If you think you may have ptosis, evaluate a recent picture of your face to one from 10 or 20 years ago, and you’ll likely see a difference in the eye lid epidermis. Eyelid ptosis can look similar to dermatochalasis, a group of ligament ailments that cause epidermis to hold in clumps. These ailments are associated with less-than-normal flexible cells development.

Additional symptoms that may be assigned to ptosis are eye exhaustion due to forcing to keep the effected eye(s) open, entered or out of eye, or increase perspective.

What Causes Ptosis?
Eyelid ptosis happens when muscle cells that usually increases the eye lid is not powerful enough to do so. It can impact one eye or both eyes and is more common as one ages, as muscle cells in the eye lids may begin to decline. One can, however, be effected early on with ptosis, as it is genetic. Ptosis may be due to damage/trauma to muscle cells which increases the eye lid, or harm to the neural which handles this muscle cells. Such harm could be a indication or manifestation of a hidden illness such as diabetic issues mellitus, a brain growth, and ailments which may cause listlessness in muscle cells or neural harm, such as myasthenia gravis.

Ptosis Treatment
Ptosis does not usually improve with time, and nearly always needs psychological higher eye lid medical procedures by an ophthalmologist focusing on plastic surgery and rebuilding medical procedures. In most situations, medical procedures is conducted to enhance or freeze the levator muscle cells and increase the eye lid. If the levator muscle cells is especially vulnerable, the lid and forehead may be put. Eyelid ptosis therapy can usually be conducted with anesthesia, except with kids.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blephasroplasty is a form of surgery on the upper and lower eyelid where excess skin, fatty tissue and muscles are removed to enhance the appearance surrounding the eye area.

This procedure is normally performed on adults of the age 35 and older but there are instances where younger people have gone through with the procedure due to hereditary saggy or drooping eyelids.

The results of the procedure will begin appearing in a few weeks’ time and normally very long lasting. For upper eyelid surgery, the results can last for a minimum of 5 years to one’s entire life where as lower eyelid surgery normally last the whole entire lifetime.
Candidates that are in best shape for the surgery are candidates that are physically and mentally healthy, candidates that don’t smoke and candidates without any major eye conditions.

Blepharoplasty procedure

An eye raise usually takes about two hours if both upper and lower eyelids are done together. Your physician will most likely use anesthetic (a painkiller shot around the eye) with dental sleep.

If you’re having all four eyelids done, choices will probably function on the upper lids first. The physician will usually create incisions following the natural creases of your eyelids. Through the incisions, he or she will part the epidermis from the hidden tissue and eliminate the unwanted fat, epidermis and muscle tissue. The incisions are then shut with very small stitches. There will be stitches in both upper eyelids which will remain on for three to six days. The lower eyelids may or may not require stitches based on the approach used.

Surgery on the lower eyelid may be done using one of the many techniques. The transconjunctival approach is conducted by making an incision inside the eye lid. The incision is unnoticeable following surgery. Through the cut, fat may be taken out to correct the droopy lower eyelids to perfection. Then, wrinkles in the epidermis can be diminished using a C02 or erbium laser.
Another approach, known as transcutaneous approach requires an incision along the eye lash edge. Through the incision, unwanted skin, muscle tissue and fatty tissue can be extracted. The incision lines disappear after a few months.
Recommendation for laser surgery may be provided after either of the procedures.

Blepharoplasty temporary solution

Eyelid Tape is used as a temporary solution while awaiting for Blepharoplasty surgery.

How to Create Natural Double Eyelid

How to create natural double eyelids? There are a number of ways to achieve natural double eyelids. A huge majority of Asian women lack a crease in a spot above their eyelashes which is also known as a double eyelid. There are 2 ways to add this feature for women who would like to add this feature to their eyes which are surgical and non-surgical methods. Both options helps to add a double eyelid without much hassle. Double eyelid surgical procedures are permanent therefore it is always safer to try non-surgical methods as a preview to what a double eyelid will look like before going for the permanent surgery.

Non-surgical methods include the very popular and economical eyelid tape. Eyelid tape is a pre-cut transparent sticker which is in the same shape of the eyelid and is stuck towards the top to create a crease which forms the double eyelid. There are also a few ways to create natural double eyelid by taking the steps set out below.

  1. Learn the difference between  different ethnic eyelids. Asian eyelid are very near to the eyelash towards the inner corner of the eye, and move parallel to the eyebrow from the middle of the eye. Westerners in contrast have an upside-down “U” shape, that tapers close to the shape of the eyelashes. Focus on the type of eyelid that you have and customize your eyelid tape to the shape and you will obtain a more natural appearance.
  2. Create double eyelids through the use of cosmetic products like double eyelid glue or eyelid tape. These are ways to obtain double eyelids whenever one feels like having them. Its usually used on a daily basis such as makeup. These are the steps to be taken on how to use eyelid tape:
  • Firstly, a clean face is vital before using the eyelid tape, therefore a non-oily skin is needed. When the eyelid area is completely dry you may start applying the eyelid tape.
  • Secondly, the eyelid tape is applied just above the eyelash line. The natural line of the inner eyelash of your eye socket should be followed for a natural look. If double eyelid glue is used, wait for half a minute for the glue to set before pushing the skin together to create the crease.
  • Slowly push the upper eyelid skin towards the eyelid tape, using the “Y” stick that comes together with the eyelid tape package. Do a section of the eyelid starting from the left to right slowly and wait half a minute to make sure that the eyelid stays to the upper lid before proceeding further.
  • Lastly, when the eyelid tape is attached, makeup can be applied if needed. Eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner can be used to enhance the look. A good eyelid tape should last at least the whole day and is removed by washing off with face wash and warm water.
  • A few recommendation of eyelid tape and eyelid glue that i have personally used and is still using as of today (You will only need either eyelid tape or eyelid glue to create double eyelids, I personally prefer eyelid tape as it is easier to use):
Eyelid Glue

Eyelid Tape

3.  Eyelid surgery can be considered for a more permanent solution for double eyelids.

Double eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty is a growing trend among Asian women as it is an instant solution to double eyelids. Surgery is normally done as an outpatient procedure and hospital stay is not needed. The surgery usually takes only a few hours, however full recovery might take about 5-6 weeks.

  • Tip: How to choose a surgeon for double eyelid surgery? An accredited doctor that have significant experience with eyelid surgery is vital as there will be no complication. As eyelid surgery involves the face, we definitely do not want anything undesirable to happen. Therefore it is a good investment to invest a little more to get the best.

How to use Eyelid Tape

There are two methods on how to use eyelid tape.

Method 1

How to use eyelid tape?

It is recommended that makeup to be put on after attaching the eyelid tape.

  • Step 1

Wash and wipe dry face to ensure a non oily surface. Allow a few minutes for face to be completely dry prior to attaching eyelid tape

  • Step 2

Attach eyelid tape just below the natural crease of the eye.

  • Step 3

Gently bring up the eyelid using the eyelid applicator(Y shaped stick) in order for the eyelid and the eyelid tape to be attached to each other.

I have added a short video clip to further illustrate on how to use eyelid tape.

Method 2

Personally I have single eyelids (monolid) and use worship eyelid tapes, hence the website. It definitely helps to make oneself beautiful with a double eyelid and also bigger eyes. However, there are many people who do not know how exactly they work? So how can a small plastic sticky tape accompanied by a ‘Y’ stick give you double eyelid?

These are the steps I use to put on eyelid tape which is actually quite simple:

  1. Using the tip of the ‘Y’ stick, feel around your eye socket with the ‘Y’ stick until you have found a good place to insert the eyelid tape.
  2. Take the eyelid tape which matches the shape of your desired eyelid.
  3. Using the ‘Y’ stick, push the eyelid tape as far back into the eye socket or until you feel that the whole surface of the eyelid tape has stuck to your eyelid.
  4. Makeup may follow by applying eyeliner and eye shadow to cover up the tape as it will be visible.

Tada! You have just obtained non-surgically enhanced double eyelid using eyelid tape! Now a little science explanation into how it works. When the tape is pushed back into the eye socket it sticks and keeps some of the eyelid back in the socket which creates a crease, hence double eyelid.

If eyelid tape isn’t your thing, you may try eyelid glue too (it rhymes!). It essentially accomplishes the same result. The only difference is that eyelid tape is in the form of solid and eyelid glue is liquid. Spread a little eyelid glue along your desirable crease line and let it dry a little before using the ‘Y’ stick to push your eyelid into your eye socket.
